On the water, anglers and boaters can utilize the convenient on-site boat ramps and day-use picnic tables to explore or relax by Waco Lake—a reservoir famous for its abundant catfish, crappie, and largemouth bass.

For trail enthusiasts, the park provides direct access to the Lacy Point Trail System. This expansive, 20-mile multi-use trail cuts through open grasslands and wooded shorelines, offering breathtaking views of the water. Highly popular with local mountain bikers and horseback riders, it is a destination for those looking to explore the natural terrain of Waco Lake.

As the premier equestrian park on Waco Lake, Reynolds Creek also features 10 camping sites for those who bring their horses camping with them. Each is equipped with water and electric hookups, a covered pavilion nearby, and two covered horse pens per site, making it a beloved and highly active gathering spot for the regional riding community.

Beyond the trails, there is an on-site playground located near the day-use area. This provides a safe, dedicated space for kids to play and burn off energy.

On the water, recreation is just as accessible. Boaters, kayakers, and anglers can launch from the park's convenient concrete boat ramp. The shoreline, characterized by submerged timber that serves as a natural habitat for fish, is a favorite spot for anglers targeting largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish . There are also lakeside picnic tables offer the perfect spot to relax, enjoy a lunch, fish and watch the boats go by.

Facilities

Reynolds Creek features 51 campsites tailored for RVs and/or tents, with 10 of those being for equestrian travelers. Campground sites are open seasonally from April 1 to September 30, while equestrian sites remain open year-round.

• Equestrian Loop (Sites E01–E10): Features 10 premium sites with electric/water hookups and covered horse stalls.

• Standard RV & Tent Sites (Sites 9–43): Includes 35 spacious sites equipped electric/water hookups.

• Tent Sites (Sites 44–49): Features 6 rustic, water-only sites (no electricity) on the northern peninsula.

• Central restrooms with showers, an RV dump station, a playground, lake side picnic tables in the day use areas and a boat ramp.

Natural Features

Located entirely within the city limits of Waco, Texas, Waco Lake is a vibrant aquatic ecosystem shaped by its unique geography. The sparkling reservoir was formed in 1963 with the completion of the Waco Lake Dam, designed to tame and store the waters of the Bosque River. The lake is fed primarily by the Bosque's 115-mile journey through central Texas, the lake sits at a fascinating ecological crossroad.

This creates a rich sanctuary for local wildlife. Along the lake’s scenic shoreline, dense pockets of Ashe juniper, cedar elm, and majestic live oaks that provide vital nesting habitat for migratory birds and native wildlife.

Beneath the surface of its 79,000 acre-feet of water, a diverse aquatic habitat thrives. Anglers and nature lovers alike are drawn to these waters, which support populations of largemouth bass, crappie, and channel catfish, sustained by a healthy network of rocky shorelines and submerged timber.

If you want to explore beyond Reynolds Creek, there is the Waco Lake Wetlands, located just upstream. This 180-acre preserve is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. It features a floating boardwalk where you can spot native reptiles, mammals, and over 130 species of birds.

From I-35, take exit 330B Hwy 6 N toward Meridian for about 7 miles. After passing over the Lake on the Twin Bridges, take the Speegleville Road exit (second exit after the bridges). Turn right on Speegleville Road. After 1 mile you will reach a 4-way stop. Continue straight on Speegleville Road for about 2 miles and park entrance will be on the right.
