The Cliff House at Pikes Peak, built in 1874 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 2001 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Cliff House is older than the state of Colorado itself, and in its 139-year history, it has been a stagecoach stop, a barracks for soldiers, and host to famous dignitaries such as Theodore Roosevelt, Charles Dickens, P.T. Barnum, Thomas Edison, Clark Gable, F.W. Woolworth, and J. Paul Getty. An extensive remodel and grand opening in 1999 elevated the Cliff House to one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels.
