Miller Creek Lake Recreation Area

Miller Creek Lake Recreation Area is a great place for family activities. This 17-acre lake was originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The area encompasses approximately 30 acres, and the average depth of the lake is 30 feet. Fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing are some of the most common activities. There are picnic tables with grills available for small gatherings and a pavilion with six tables is available for larger gatherings such as weddings and birthday parties. Shoreline fishing and fishing from non-motorized boat provide fun for the whole family. No gas-powered boats permitted!

This area is only open from sunrise to sunset and no camping is allowed in the Day Use Parking Area.

There is a day-use fee per vehicle of $3 per day or $25 for an annual pass. This pass is for day-use only amenities and does not include camping. On the Oconee National Forest, the annual pass covers the amenity fee associated with the recreation areas that are listed below:

• Lake Sinclair Recreation Area
• Miller Creek Lake Recreation Area 
• Swords Recreation Area
• Redlands Recreation Area
• Oconee River Recreation Area
• Dyar Pasture Recreation Area

The $3 day pass can be purchased on-site using a credit card through the Recreation.gov mobile app. Once on-site, follow the posted Scan & Pay instructions. You will need to download the free Recreation.gov mobile app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.
