Acadia National Park Ranger Programs

Acadia National Park protects the natural beauty of the highest rocky headlands along the Atlantic coastline of the United States, an abundance of habitats, and a rich cultural heritage. At 3.5 million visits a year, it's one of the top 10 most-visited national parks in the United States. Visitors enjoy 27 miles of historic motor roads, 158 miles of hiking trails, and 45 miles of carriage roads.    

Rangers provide interpretive programs for visitors that allow visitors to gain a better understanding of the park's natural and cultural resources. These programs are offered during the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. Some programs allow you to "drop-in" for short interactions with a ranger as you travel through the busiest areas of the park, while others require reservations. The program is free; advance reservations require a $1 per ticket reservation fee.

Do not rely exclusively on your mobile GPS, Google Maps, or similar automated navigation systems to get to the Sand Beach parking area. Sand Beach is located 8 miles from the Hulls Cove Visitor Center along the one-way section of Acadia National Park’s Park Loop Road. Sand Beach is one of the top attractions at Acadia and there are numerous signs to direct you.
