To purchase a Red Rock Pass: • In person: Where to buy a Red Rock Pass • Online: Buy a Red Rock Pass from Rcreation.gov Located northwest of Sedona, Arizona, the Palatki Heritage Site is one of the largest cliff dwellings of the Red Rock Country between C.E 1150-1350. The dwelling stands much as described and photographed by Dr. Jesse Walter Fewkes, in 1895 from the Smithsonian Institution, who gave them name of Palatki, Hopi for Red House. In addition to the excellently preserved dwelling, there is “Rock Art”, Pictographs and Petroglyphs indicating that the area has been utilized by people as far back as 12,000 B.C.E. Many cultures left their “marks” through the ages for you to experience up close. To protect these sites, we have experienced guides who will assist you in understanding the people who lived here and their cultures. The main tour for the site includes the Dwelling and the “Grotto” “Rock Art” site. These 1-hour tours leave the visitor center every half hour starting at 9:30AM and the last tour leaves at 2:00PM, expect to spend 1 1/2 hours on site. The tours are offered 7 days a week. Total walking distance for the basic tour is 1 mile which includes 60 fairly strenuous, uneven steps to the Dwelling site. Please know your limitations An extended tour, of the area includes the Bear Alcove, Water Catchment and Roasting Pit area in addition to the basic tour. Including the Basic tour this tour lasts 2 hours and is led by a guide.

Location: 13 miles northwest of Sedona, Arizona. GPS (Map): 34°54'53.6"N 111°54'08.4"W Via SR 89A /FR 525: From SR 89A West of Sedona, between mile marker 364 and 365, turn north on Forest Road 525. Go north for 5 miles, FR 525 bears left, continue straight ahead onto Forest Road 795 for two miles. This road will lead directly into the Palatki parking lot. From Sedona, via Boynton Pass Road: Travel through west Sedona on SR 89A, turn right onto Dry Creek Rd. There are signs at every intersection that will direct you towards Palatki. At the end of Dry Creek Road (stop sign), turn left onto Boynton Pass Road (FR 152C). At the next stop sign, turn left again. In a couple of miles, the pavement will end, and you should continue on the rough gravel road for three miles until you reach another stop sign, turn right on FR525, , FR 525 bears left, continue straight ahead onto Forest Road 795 for two miles. This road will lead directly into the Palatki parking lot.
